Our Homeschool Week

Monday

Monday we had a pretty normal school day. We started school with independent work. We stopped for lunch and a long break around noon. After lunch I gathered my children back inside. We said a prayer and I read to my kids out of our Bible story book. Then we sang a church song called Risen For Me by Angie Killian. We did the pledge of allegiance. To finish up things with my youngest kids, we read a storybook. I then set the youngest children away to play. Then I was free to spend a good deal of time reading about the War of the Roses in our Biblioplan history. We finished most of our history for the week. After that I read the book Little Women out loud to my children. After we finished that I finished independent work with most of my kids.

Usually I like to work on social media, my blog, or make things on Canva. Monday I decided to just spend time with my sweetheart before bedtime.

Tuesday

Tuesday was uneventful. We just did normal school. My children complained that they had to start normal school again without getting a day off first. My husband and I are going away for a couple days without our kids soon, so I wanted to save time off until then. I did stay up late. I was spending time doing some social media things that I enjoy.

Wednesday

Wednesday was a really rough day. Being tired and grumpy from staying up, it made waking up rough. We left the house around 7 or 7:30. My husband had warned me about a road block on our road. Last week the road was flooded over from deep snow melting quickly. I successfully found the road block and maneuvered around it.

Our homeschool coop went good, but I was ready to go home. In the rush and excitement for me to head home, I forgot to fill up my gas tank. As we got on our gravel road, I was pretty well tired. Next thing I knew we were centimeters away from the road block we had missed that morning. I totally smoked it. I ashamedly called my husband and got out of my car to check the damage. When I got back in I noticed we were extremely low on fuel. Despite hurrying for home, our car came to a complete stop of it’s own accord and hunger for gas. Making an executive decision to not sit for a while with six kids on a sunny day, we got out and started walking home. My delightful husband picked us up along the way. We prepared for church activities in town and rushed the other direction from our house. I did manage to evade a dead deer in the road. When we got to town I called the sheriffs office to inform them of the deer I missed and the road block I smoked. We made it home that night with know further issues. I was super tired and crashed. That pun was intended.

Thursday and Friday

I can’t remember what we did on Thursday. I remember our foster boys social worker telling me not too worry about my house, and I informed her I was too tired to care. I had cleaned the house several times lately preparing for her to come, but the road wasn’t passable.

Friday was a very delightful day. I had my kids read books for 30 minutes. When they finished, we filled up our hiking backpacks with water and piled into the car. We drove down the road a ways. My oldest son wanted to hike on some rocks. I stopped at a spot along the road that had some big rocks. We hiked that place for a while. That place was filled with lots of trees and mountains. It was a beautiful spot. We drove to another spot that I thought would be easier for my younger children. However, there was super deep snow. My oldest son and I tried to make a path for the younger kids since we were in muck boots. Despite our efforts and some of our shoes, we all had snow in our boots. The kids had a good time even with a couple falls over rocks and cold feet. When we got back from our hike, it was time to eat and prepare for the social worker. We had a nice visit while the kids enjoyed the sunshine outside. We didn’t do much the rest of the day other than our Bible time, read aloud, and history.

All in all it was a good week. My favorite part was definitely the hike. We finished the week with me hoping we could go hiking again on Monday.
